That's a great idea! It currently can't do that, but I'll add it to the list for the next update.

General Discussion / Total Integration Time?
Last post by Tailspin45 - November 02, 2023, 11:14:40 AM
I have an album dedicated to M42.

In it I have 3, 10, 15, and 30 second subs.

Is there a feature that will display total integration time?

If not, a cool feature would be a read out for selected subs. Shift click two to all subs, right click or press a key combination, and total integration is displayed.

Hi.

Yes, I have seen that now Observatory can use the latest PixInsight astrometric data. Thank you for implement it. The next "frontier" is to make Observatory to deal correctly with the "megastarry" images when solving internally.

Hi, Sanders. Yes, I have seen all the new options and they seem to work as expected. After Sonoma was released, I have made a fresh install, so don't have any previous cache. The thumbnails are rendered all the time without the Default STF when I select None. It keeps this option as the default after rebooting the computer.

Thank you for adding this new and needed feature.

Observatory 2.0.2 adds the STF option to its Quick Look preview extension action menu. It is used by both the preview and thumbnails, but Quick Look thumbnails are cached by Finder, so changing it may not have any effect until you clear the Quick Look cache and relaunch Finder. I recommend to only use it to temporary change how the Quick Look preview is displayed, and then change it back to the default. It affects how XISF, FITS and SBIG images are displayed in Finder and Open/Save sheets (née dialogs, since Big Sur  :'().

Hint: if you use the system Open/Save sheet in PixInsight, not only will it show you the thumbnails, but if you press the spacebar it will also show you the preview (with metadata and scale/orientation/grid overlays!). Also, its search field uses Spotlight, and because of Observatory's Spotlight plugin you can do metadata searches there.

Observatory 2.0.2 supports linear astrometric solution XISF properties, so it and its Quick Look preview extension is able to render the overlays for XISF files written by PixInsight 1.8.9-2.
