The demo allows you to evaluate many of Observatory’s features before purchasing. It is a demo, not a full trial, and differs from the full version in the following important ways:
- Whereas the full version includes stars up to magnitude 16 from the Gaia catalog and has an In-App purchase option to extend this to magnitude 20 (over 800 million stars in total), this demo is limited to magnitude 14 stars;
- The demo does not contain the solar system catalog for tagging and overlaying the positions of planets, comets and 500,000 asteroids in your images;
- Only the full version of Observatory includes the Quick Look and Spotlight extensions for astronomical images. The demo does not display thumbnails, previews, metadata and overlays of FITS, XISF and SBIG images in Finder. It also does not index the metadata for searching;
- The demo does not allow you to explicitly save the libraries you create;
- Time Machine related features have been disabled;
- You cannot export images or movies from your libraries;
- Images downloaded with Virtual Observatory are altered;
- The demo expires after 14 days.
