Title: Using the same library on two Macs
Post by: JR on August 25, 2022, 05:07:47 PM
I have placed my Observatory library and the source files in iCloud.  I can view both on the computer on which I initially placed the library and source files.

I can go to the second computer and open the library on iCloud, but all the thumbnails are marked with an exclamation mark in a red circle and when I click on one I get the following error message:  "An error occurred while retrieving the master."

Is it possible to use the same library and source files on two different computers?

Observatory wasn't designed for sharing libraries between computers, but it should be possible as long as you make sure to close the library one one computer before opening it on the other one.

The errors you see on the 2nd computer are caused by the macOS sandbox security feature. By selecting the top level source folder in the Source Folders pane of the sidebar in the Observatory library, and clicking "Locate Source Folder...", then selecting it, it will give the application on the 2nd computer permission to access the images.
